AWARDS
Over the years, the Zeta
Iota Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta as well as individual members, have accumulated
numerous awards given by the National Organization which include The Quakenbush
Leadership Award, All A’s Awards, The Order Of the Quill, and many, many, many
more. The chapter has also received many
awards from the College itself which include both the Intramural Cup and
President’s Cup two years in a row!

These awards reflect the
hard work of the chapter over the past year and we congratulate all the sisters
for their dedication to Alpha Xi Delta!**
The following is a list of possible
awards that are issued by the National Alpha Xi Delta Organization to its many
Chapters around the country:
ALL A’S AWARD:
This award is given to each member of the chapter who receives
all A’s for an entire academic year.
The Gertrude Anderson Newsletter Award:
This award is given to the chapter with
the best news publication sent to alumnae, alumnae associations, and all
initiated members.
The Public Relations Award:
This award is given to chapters who have
gained outstanding positive recognition for Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity and the
chapter by developing awareness of the chapter's activities on campus and in
the community, sponsoring programs and events that support the education
programs of universities/college, building relationships with various publics,
and showcasing projects that benefit those in need.
Quakenbush Leadership Award:
The Elizabeth Roberts Quackenbush
Leadership Award is for the outstanding senior member(s) of Alpha Xi Delta.
Each chapter may have only one nominee.
Order Of The Quill Award:
The Order of the Quill Award signifies
sound management practices with emphasis placed on communications.
The Honor Key Award:
The Honor Key and Straight A Senior Award
may be awarded to an individual chapter member obtaining a cumulative GPA of at
least 3.5 on a 4.0 system (or equivalent) for 3½ years of academic work in
college.
The following is a list of the academic
awards presented to chapters by the National Organization:
Anna Grandin Baldwin Award. This
award is presented at each National Convention to the college chapter
having attained the highest scholastic
average since the preceding National Convention.
Alice Bartlett Bruner Scholarship Award. This
award is presented to the college chapter with the highest
scholastic ranking on its campus among
campuses with eight or more women.s fraternities.
Mary Emily Kay Scholarship Award. This
award is presented to the college chapter with the highest
scholastic ranking on its campus among
campuses with seven or fewer women.s fraternities.
Greatest Academic Improvement Award.
Awarded to the college chapter showing the greatest
improvement in academic achievement.
Elizabeth G. Van Buskirk New Member Group
Award. The award is made to new member groups of 10
or more members achieving a group GPA of
at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
Academic Achievement Excellence Award.
Given to chapters demonstrating outstanding academic
achievement programs by ranking first
academically on campus or having a chapter GPA of at least 3.0 (on a
4.0 scale).
Slaymaker-Kinsey Award.
Given to the member of each chapter with the highest cumulative GPA at the
beginning the academic year.
All A.s for Undergraduate Studies Award. This
award is given to Alpha Xi Delta graduating collegiate
members who have maintained a straight
.A. average throughout their undergraduate studies.
Honor Key. The Honor Key may be awarded to an
individual chapter member obtaining a cumulative GPA
of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 system for three
and a half (3 1/2) years of academic work in college.
The following is a list of the possible
grants and scholarships presented by the National Organization:
Jayne Wade Anderson Scholarship. For a sophomore member demonstrating
academic excellence and
involvement in extra-curricular
activities, loyalty to the Fraternity and school, and concern for fellow
students.
Arts and Letters Scholarship. For an undergraduate member in the fine
and creative arts field.
Bernice Askey Scholarship. For undergraduate members in the field
of education.
Norma M. Batchelder Memorial Scholarship. For alumnae members or undergraduate in
any field of study.
Janice Sheldon Baumback Scholarship. For a member of Nu Chapter, University
of Washington, who
excels in scholarship, leadership, and
commitment to Alpha Xi Delta.
Ruth Fowler Brown Scholarship. For an outstanding freshman or
sophomore who demonstrates academic
excellence, initiative, and
responsibility to herself and the community.
Delores Wachsman Child Scholarship. For an undergraduate member in any
field of study.
Choose Children Scholarship. For members doing graduate study in a
child-related field.
Dr. Marianne Clausing-Lee Scholarship. For an undergraduate member in any
field.
Founders. Memorial Scholarship. For an alumna returning to school.
Nancy Fehrmann Gainer Scholarship. For a junior or senior member pursuing
studies in health or
education.
Frances Trewyn Kuechenmeister Memorial
Scholarship. For a
junior collegiate member for exceptional
service to the Fraternity and campus
community.
Charline Blind Merrill Scholarship. For a graduating senior women
immediately entering graduate school.
Mary Burn Nash Law Scholarship. For a college senior or alumna member
who is entering or already
attending law school.
Dorothy M. Nichols Science Scholarship. For junior or senior members majoring
in mathematic or science.
Phillips Scholars. For undergraduate members to help them
complete their education.
Jessie Pulcipher Communications
Scholarship. For a
junior or senior member in the field of journalism,
radio, television or communications.
Mary Louise Mabis Rain Scholarship. For graduate members of Alpha Eta
Chapter, Purdue University.
Lulu Range Fund Scholarship. For members of Rho Chapter, University
of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Mabel Gottburg Schoen Scholarship. For members of Sigma Chapter,
University of Iowa or undergraduate
members of other chapters attending
college in Iowa.
Spaulding-Mowry Scholarship. For a member entering or in graduate
school to study government or
environmental affairs.
Ethel Garnier Thompson Scholarship. For an undergraduate member in any
field of study.
Florence Stoermer Voelker Scholarship. For an undergraduate member in any
field of study.
Richard and Sandra Gleason Walston Fund
Scholarship. For
undergraduate members of Nu Chapter,
University of Washington.
Mary Kenner Winters Memorial Fund
Scholarship. For members
of Beta Alpha Chapter, University of
Texas.
