BATESVILLE, Ark. – Sarah Ruegger scored a
goal for the third consecutive match and Angelique
Armenta earned a goal and two assists during the Lyon
College Pipers' 3-1 trouncing of the Lambuth Lady Eagles
Tuesday in the first round of the TranSouth Conference
Tournament at Huser Field.
Armenta's
two assists gives her nine for the year, breaking the
old single-season school record of seven by Katy Smith
in 2006.
Ruegger's
goal was her team-leading 15th goal of the season,
extending her single-season school record.
Kaelli
Broomfield had the other goal for Lyon.
Junior
Rita Brown notched the win in goal for the Pipers,
allowing only one goal on a penalty kick by Lady Eagle
Jessie Metcalf in the 50th minute.
Lyon
(9-7-1) has won its last three matches by a combined
21-1 count, and plays the NAIA's No. 5-ranked
Martin Methodist Lady RedHawks on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Pulaski, Tenn.
