ALVA, Okla. -- The
Northwest Oklahoma State Rangers erupted for three goals
in the second half to hand the Lyon College Pipers a 3-0
loss Tuesday in nonconference play.
Lyon falls to 1-1-0 this
season and plays again on Aug. 31 at Missouri Baptist.
Christina Nunez led NW
Oklahoma with a goal and an assist while goal keeper
Kelsey Archer notched a shutout with 10 saves.
Piper keeper Rita Brown
(0-1-0) allowed three goals and picked up five saves.
Lyon outshot NWOSU 16-15,
but were outdistanced 11-7 in the second half. The shot
differential paid off in the second half.
Nunez scored in the 47th
minute on an assist from Lee Gunn to give the Rangers a
1-0 advantage.
Caitlin Phelps struck for
an unassisted goal in the 58th minute and Ashley Guinn
followed with the final tally on an assists from Caitlin
Phelps and Christina Nunez.
