BATESVILLE, Ark. -- A trio of freshman lit the way for
the Lyon College Pipers in a 2-0 TranSouth Conference
triumph over the Cumberland University Lady Bulldogs on
Sunday at Huser Field.
Lyon
freshmen Amber Mathieson and Jamie Price each accounted
for a goal and a third freshman, goal keeper Erica Cox
held the Lady Bulldogs scoreless.
Mathieson
scored her first goal of the season in the 45th minute
on an assist from Sarah Ruegger to give Lyon a 1-0
advantage at the half.
Price
scored the insurance goal in the 88th minute when Megan
Rossee's assist reached its mark.
Cox
notched her third shutout of the season in goal, saving
four shots.
Lyon
evens its record to 5-5-1 this season with a 2-2 mark
against TranSouth foes. Cumberland drops to 1-5 overall
and 1-3 in league play.
