Five Pipers earn
all-conference honors

PULASKI, Tenn.  – For the second season in a row, the Lyon College Pipers placed five players on the All-TranSouth Conference Women's Soccer team.

Aurora Alba, Angelique Armenta, Sarah Ruegger, Melissa Odell and Heather Palmer were the Pipers recognized for their play on the field with 2007 all-conference honors.

Alba, a junior midfielder from Las Vegas, Nev., led the list of five and was the team's only first-team, all-conference selection. The Las Vegas native had three goals and two assists in 2007 for the 9-8-1 Pipers. The all-conference honor was Alba's second, joining a second-team nod in 2006 as a sophomore.

Armenta, a senior forward from Tucson, Ariz., was named second team all-conference for the second consecutive season. The senior notched nine goals and a team-high and school-record 10 assists in 2007.

Ruegger, a junior forward from Gainesville, Fla., earned her first second-team, all-conference selection on the strength of a record year. The junior notched a single-season school record 15 goals and 34 points in '07. She also netted five assists.

Odell, a junior from Tucson, Ariz., and Palmer, a senior from Arlington, Tex., each picked up their first second-team, all-conference honor on defense.
