PIKEVILLE, Ky. --
Sophomore Sarah Poncher set single-season school records
in goals and points, and became the school’s all-time
leader in goals and points with a hat trick in Lyon
College’s 10-0 nonconference victory over Pikeville
College.
Poncher’s three-goal
outing gave her nine for the season and her career,
breaking the single-season mark previously held by
Christina Bass (2003) and the career mark held by
current senior Allison Morrison. The sophomore also
added an assist to give her 20 points for the season,
topping the season record held by Bass (2003) and the
career record held by Morrison.
Lyon (10-2 overall) also
got two goals each from Gaby Shafer-Sorenson and Katy
Smith. One goal apiece was scored by Morrison, Sarah
Ruegger and Martha Seilenga.
The shutout was the
Pipers’ fifth of the season. Goal keeper Stephanie
Henderson won her ninth game of the season and collected
a partial shutout.
