Sophomore Sarah Ruegger
and junior Angelique Armenta each scored a goal to make
the Lyon College Pipers’ first-ever trip to the
TranSouth Conference Tournament a successful one.
Ruegger scored in the 20th
minute on an assist from Katy Smith and Armenta added
another goal in the 32nd minute to give the
Pipers a 2-0 victory over the Lambuth Lady Eagles in the
first round of the TranSouth Conference Tournament
Wednesday at Lyon College Soccer Field.

keeper Stephanie Henderson got her eighth shutout of the
season and the win, saving three shots.
Lyon College moves to
13-4 this season and is set to play in the conference
semifinals against No. 2 seed Bethel -- ranked No. 13 in
the latest NAIA National Rankings -- at 1 p.m. on Friday
at Pulaski, Tenn.
