BATESVILLE, Ark.
– The Lyon College Pipers fought the Trevecca Nazarene
Trojans to a standstill for a half, but TNU outscored
the Pipers 43-28 the rest of the way in a 76-61 Trojans'
win Thursday night in TranSouth Conference play at
Becknell Gym.
Trevecca Nazarene (9-6, 3-2), ranked No. 16 in the
latest NAIA Division I women's basketball rankings,
couldn't shake Lyon (11-5, 2-3) in the first half. The
two teams settled at 33-33 at the break with both teams
shooting north of 45 percent from the field.
The Pipers' shooting stroke cooled in the second half,
to the tune of a 37-percent clip. Meanwhile, the Trojans
kept up the status quo, hitting for 46 percent after the
half.
Trojans' center Jennifer Bognar led all scorers with 20
points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Pipers were led by Farmington, Ark., native April
Carter, who hit for 17 points on 6 of 13 shooting from
the field, inclduing 5 of 10 from 3-point range.
Lyon's Snezana Jovanovic and K.K Hodges of Wynne, Ark.,
each scored 15 points apiece. Jovanovic added a
team-high nine boards and Hodges had six.
