PULASKI, Tenn.
– K.K. Hodges hit two free throws with :09 left to help
lift the Lyon College Pipers to a 69-66 overtime victory
over the Martin Methodist College Lady RedHawks Saturday
in a TranSouth Conference game.
Hodges scored 15 points on 6 of 11 shooting from the
field and 3 of 5 from the charity stripe. The Wynne,
Ark. native also had a team-high nine rebounds in the
victory.
Lyon improves to 14-7 overall and evens its record to
5-5 in the conference. Martin Methodist falls to 12-10
and 5-5.
The Pipers' road win avenges a 73-71 last-minute, home
loss to the Lady RedHawks at Becknell back on Jan. 5.
Meanwhile, Snezana Jovanovic led the Pipers with a
game-high 24 points. Jovanovic hit 9 of 10 from the
free-throw line, 7 of 15 from the field and also pulled
down eight boards. April Carter and Maribeth Waters
pitched in 10 apiece for Lyon.
Two free throws by Hollye Jernigen with :30 left in
regulation tied the score at 58 and sent the game into
an extra frame. In the overtime, Lyon outscored MMC
11-8.
Nina Robinson paced the Lady RedHawks with 17 points and
a game-high 11 rebounds. Crystal Poindexter added 16 and
Lorraine Sutton had 14 points, six rebounds and seven
assists.
