Lyon College from
TranSouth Tournament
JACKSON, Tenn. -- K.K. Hodges picked up her fifth
double-double of the season but the Lyon College Pipers
were defeated by the Lambuth Lady Eagles in a 67-53
decision on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the
TranSouth Conference Tournament.
Lyon
(18-13) is eliminated from conference tournament play.
Lambuth, ranked No. 11in NAIA Division I, moves on to
face Freed-Hardeman University in Friday's conference
semifinal round.
Hodges
scored a team-high 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds
in defeat. Rebeca Whorton added 11 points off the bench
and senior April Carter pitched in 10.
Hodges
completes one of the best seasons by a freshman in
recent memory. The Wynne, Ark., standout notched 484
points (10th on the College's single-season list) and
223 rebounds (fifth on the schools single-season list)
during the 2007-08 season. She also becomes the first
Piper since Sarah Meier (2000-01) to record at least 450
points and 200 rebounds in the same campaign.
Meanwhile, Carter finished her Lyon College career as
the school's all-time 3-point leader with 259 shots made
from behind the arc. The senior from Farmington, Ark.,
also holds the single-season 3-point record with 108
treys this season.
Lambuth's
Chytearra Kintchen led
all scorers with 25 points.
