LEBANON, Tenn.
–
The Cumberland Lady Bulldogs slapped the Lyon College
Pipers with a couple of coats of "paint" Thursday in a
86-67 TranSouth Conference loss.
Cumberland (4-8, 12-12) won the battle in the trenches,
collecting both rebounds and points in the paint by the
boatload. The Lady 'Dawgs outrebounded the Pipers,
38-27, and outscored Lyon, 48-20, in the lane.
The Pipers won the two team's first meeting, 76-65, on
Jan. 10, at Becknell Gym in Batesville with a swarming
defense. Lyon held Cumberland to just 28 percent
shooting in the earlier matchup, but on Thursday,
however, the tables were turned.
Lyon (14-9, 5-7) shot just 37 percent from the field.
The Pipers' Cumberland counterparts hit 63 percent of
its shots.
Guard April Carter sparked the Pipers with 18 points,
forward K.K. Hodges added 16 and guard Snezana Jovanovic
had 13.
Center Renae Williams led all scorers with 28 points and
led all rebounders with 11 boards to pace Cumberland.
