BATESVILLE, Ark. – Snezana Jovanovic led a balanced
scoring attack for the Lyon College Pipers with a
game-high 21 points in a 66-45 dismantling of the
Williams Baptist College Lady Eagles Thursday evening in
a nonconference game at Becknell Gym.
Jovanovic scored on 9 of 13 attempts from the field and
3 of 4 from the free-throw line. Pipers Maribeth Waters,
K.K. Hodges and April Carter each scored 11 apiece to
supplement Jovanovic’s total. Hodges had a game-high
eight of Lyon’s 28 rebounds. Waters dished out five
assists to lead all players.
Williams Baptist’s Sequita Hightower paced her team with
11 points and Kelsey Smith added 10.
Lyon (5-1) wins its fourth straight and earns its second
victory this season over WBC. The Lady Eagles fall to
3-6 overall and have lost six of their last seven.
The Pipers blazed through the first half from the floor,
shooting 15 of 27 (56 percent) while earning a 38-23
advantage. Lyon coasted in the second half and hit just
38 percent of their shot attempts, but held the Lady
Eagles to just 35 percent.
Turnovers turned out to be a huge factor as Lyon forced
WBC to turn the ball over 27 times compared to just 14
for the Pipers.
