JACKSON, Tenn.
– The Union University Lady Bulldogs upended the Lyon
College Pipers, 3-2, in a five-set thriller Tuesday in
TranSouth Conference play.
Lyon (12-9 overall and 6-4 in the TranSouth) lost the
first game 30-27, won the second 30-26, lost the third
30-21, rebounded for a win in the fourth game 30-27 and
suffered a 15-6 defeat in the tiebreaker.
Union (14-5, 7-5) ended a three-game TranSouth
Conference winning streak by the Pipers, dating back to
Sept. 28.
Freshman Meghann LaBorn led the Pipers with 16 kills and
four solo blocks. Senior outside hitter Daria Paunovic
had 15 kills and 13 digs, while sophomore Lauren
Castleberry earned 12 kills.
Lyon setters Julie Arnold and Jessica Sylvester had 26
assists apiece and Ann Sullivan led the Pipers in digs
with 16.
