Twenty service aces by the Lyon College Pipers helped
contribute to a 3-0 sweep of the Mid-Continent Lady
Cougars Saturday in a TranSouth Conference contest at
Becknell Gym.
Senior Leah Eifling of North Little Rock, Ark. led the
Pipers with a game-high seven aces. Eifling also earned
eight digs.
Sophomore Lauren Castleberry had five aces and eight
digs, and senior setter Jessica Sylvester had four aces
and a team-high 38 assists to power Lyon.
Pipers' senior outside hitter Daria Paunovic earned a
game-high 20 kills and 10 digs. Lyon teammate Katie
Beineke of Jonesboro, Ark. was second on the team with
eight kills.
Meghann Laborn of Fort Smith, Ark. picked up seven
kills, Ann Sullivan earned eight digs and Julie Arnold
had seven digs for Lyon.
Lyon (17-11 overall, 11-6 in TranSouth action) currently
sits a half-game in front of Union (19-8, 10-6) for
fourth place in the conference standings. Mid-Continent
sinks to 2-19 and 2-15.
