SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. --
Lyon opened the 2007 season with a 30-28, 30-23, 30-20
sweep of the Brenau University Golden Tigers Friday at
the John Brown University Volleyball Classic.
Pipers' outside hitter
Lauren Castleberry had 10 kills and 10 digs while middle
blocker Katie Beineke led the team with 12 kills.
Lyon freshman Meghann
Leborn earned 10 kills and two blocks and senior Daria
Paunovic picked up 11 digs and three aces.
Libero Ann Sullivan paced
the Pipers in digs with 15 and setters Julie Arnold and
Jessica Sylvester had 18 assists apiece. Arnold also
pitched in three aces.
The Pipers (1-0) play in
the nightcap at 7 p.m. against host John Brown
University.
