Lyon Volleyball 2007 recruit Katelyn Parsons, coaches,
and family
HAWKINS, Tex. – Lyon
College Head Volleyball Coach Justin Dee has announced
the signing of Hawkins High School's Katelyn Parsons.
Parsons
is a 5'9 setter from Holly Lake Ranch, Tex.
She has
twice been an All District and All Tournament
selection. She plays for Tyler Juniors 18 Elite in club volleyball. She was also selected MVP of her team as well as given
the Hawk Award.
Parsons stands out in
academics as well. She is a member of National
Beta Club and was also Student Council and four year
Class President.
Katelyn chose Lyon
College over: Midwestern State University, Texas
Wesleyan University, and Oklahoma City University.
Katelyn on why she chose
Lyon College: "I had been recruited at
several colleges but after visiting campuses and meeting
coaches, I just didn't get the feeling that 'this is
where I'm supposed to be'. But then I came to Lyon.
After a couple of hours visiting on campus, spending
time with the players and talking with Coach Dee, I told
my family, 'This is it!' There is definitely something
special at Lyon College, you can almost feel it in the
air. I knew I wanted to be part of it!"".
Coach Dee: "A gift. I think that might be the best way to describe Katelyn
Parsons. We truly have a new part of our family,
and that new part is such a special gift. Never in
my coaching career have I run into someone so late in
recruiting who could compete for a starting spot as a
freshman. She came to an open gym in the middle of
spring, got on the court, and it was like she belonged
there. There won't be any transition time needed
for Katelyn. She has come home. This is
where she is meant to be and I am so glad to have her
join our family."
