MEMPHIS,
Tenn. -- The Lyon College Pipers suffered two 4-1 losses
on the opening day of the Rhodes College Tournament –
one to the host team and the other to a fellow TranSouth
conference member, Lambuth University.
Lyon drops to 7-3 on the season with the
pair of losses.
Pipers’ outside hitter Daria Paunovic had
a stellar pair of matches with 34 kills, 29 digs and six
aces total.
Rhodes took the first match of the
afternoon 30-21, 27-30, 32-30 and 30-25.
Leah Eifling had three aces and 28 digs
in the match and Jessica Sylvester had 22 assists.
In the second match, Lambuth won 30-29,
34-32, 26-30 and 30-26.
Freshman middle blocker Katie Beineke had
nine kills and setter Julie Arnold had 22 assists.
Sophomore libero Ann Sullivan also had 43 digs in the
match.
Lyon College rounds out tournament play
Sunday at noon with a game against Mississippi College.
