NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The
Lyon College Pipers collected two wins on its weekend
Tennesee road trip, stopping TranSouth foe Cumberland on
Friday, then splitting a trimatch with a win over
non-conference opponent Asbury and a conference loss at
Trevecca-Nazarene on Saturday.
Lyon ended the
three-match road swing at 11-4 overall and 3-1 in the
TranSouth Conference.
Lyon swept through its
first conference match in three games with a 3-0 victory
over Cumberland – 30-28, 30-26 and 30-13.
Freshman middle blocker
Katie Beineke led the Pipers with11 kills and two
blocks. Senior Alyson Boone seven kills and Ann Sullivan
recorded 23 digs and two aces. Jessica Sylvester added
21 assists.
The Pipers lost a match
with host Trevecca Nazarene 3-1 -- Lyon's first
TranSouth defeat of the year -- winning the first game
30-23, but then falling in the following three 30-14,
30-25 and 30-15.
Next up for Lyon is a
Thursday road match with TranSouth contender Martin
Methodist. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
