The Lyon College Pipers'
season-opening, five-match winning streak came to an
unceremonious end Tuesday night.
Visiting Arkansas Tech
blew into Becknell Gymnasium and took three straight
games from the Pipers in their home opener.
The loss dropped Lyon
College to 5-1 this season. Arkansas Tech improved to
7-3 on the year.
ATU swiped the first game
30-16, fought off Lyon 30-28 in a tight second game and
then roared to a 30-21 triumph in the match-clinching
final contest.
Freshman middle blocker
Katie Beineke and junior Pale, Bosnia native Daria
Paunovic each had eight kills. Beineke added two blocks
while Paunovic pitched in an ace and a block.
Junior setter Jessica
Sylvester earned 15 assists, six digs and fired five
aces.
The Pipers look to
rebound Saturday afternoon in their TranSouth Conference
lid-lifter against Trevecca-Nazarene. Game time is set
for 1 p.m. at Becknell Gymnasium.
