Second-half surge
leads Scots over Cumberland, 2-0
BATESVILLE, Ark. -- A two-goal, second-half surge and a
stellar afternoon in goal by Matt Callaway, led the Lyon
College Scots to a 2-0 win over the Cumberland Bulldogs
Sunday in TranSouth Conference action at Huser Field.
Callaway
stopped nine shots for saves and with the shutout, ran
his team-leading season total to 3.5. The Lyon sophomore
has 6.5 shutouts in his career, good for second on the
school's all-time list.
Offensively, Lyon midfielder Craig Cannon drew first
blood in the 61st minute, scoring on assists from Greg
Buford and Daniel Young.
Scots'
sophomore and Little Rock native Gabe LeBlanc scored in
the 71st minute on assists from Mark Maxwell and Greg
Buford to hand the Scots a 2-0 cushion.
Lyon
College improves to 4-6 overall and 2-2 inside the
TranSouth Conference. Cumberland sinks to 1-5-1 and
0-3-1.
