The
nationally-ranked Bethel Wildcats took advantage of two
yellow cards and a pair of reds to top the Lyon College
Scots, 5-0, in a TranSouth Conference soccer match
Tuesday at Lyon College Soccer Field.
Bethel, ranked No. 17 in
the NAIA national Division I rankings, led by a slim 1-0
in the 37th minute, when a disputed Scots
foul touched off a pair of yellow cards and two more red
cards from Lyon. The red cards cost the home team Nick
Jones and head coach Jeremy Bishop for the rest of the
game and the Wildcats capitalized, scoring on a Sean
Fraser penalty kick as a result of the foul, and three
more unanswered goals from Bethel in the balance of the
game.
Bethel improves to 12-2-1
and 7-1 in the TranSouth. Lyon sinks to 6-8-1 and 3-5.
