BATESVILLE, Ark. -- Trey Salley hit a jumper with :28
left and Levi Taylor added two free throws at the :19
mark to push the Lyon College Scots to a 62-59 win over
the Union University Bulldogs Monday evening in a
TranSouth Conference matchup.
Lyon
(10-12, 4-8) recorded its first regular-season sweep
over Union (13-9, 7-5) over its last eight seasons in
TranSouth Conference play.
Jonathan Donaldson had 12 points and eight rebounds to
lead the Scots in scoring and rebounding. Charles Black
and Salley helped with 10 apiece. Taylor notched nine
points and Preston Butts earned seven.
The
Scots trailed 37-29 at the half, but stormed back and
outscored Union 33-22 the rest of the way.
Free-throw shooting provided the extra boost for the
Scots in the second half, as Head Coach Kevin Jenkins'
club knocked down 11 of 12 attempts from the stripe.
