NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Levi
Taylor of Lyon College and Kendaris Pelton of NAIA
Division I's No. 16 Martin Methodist are named as
the TranSouth Athletic Conference Co-Men's Basketball
Players of the Week for the week ending January 13,
2008.
Taylor, a
6-8 senior from Melbourne, Ark., surpassed the 1,000
career scoring mark on the week as the Scots went 2-1
with a win at No. 20 Union. Taylor averaged 22.3 points,
5.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals on the week.
In Lyon’s
75-63 win at No. 20 Union Taylor scored 16 points while
grabbing five rebounds and blocking two shots. In the
Scots 89-87 win at Mid-Continent he had 32 points and
was 4-for-4 from beyond the three-point arch. For the
week he was 18-for-33 (54%) from the field, 8-of-15
(53%) from beyond the arc, and hit 23-of-26 (88%) from
the foul line.
Lyon is
8-6 overall and 2-2 in TranSouth play.
Pelton, a
6-6 senior from Birmingham, Ala., averaged 20 points,
8.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game as the RedHawks
were a perfect 3-0 on the week.
Martin
Methodist is now 13-1 overall and 4-0 in TranSouth play.
