BATESVILLE, Ark. -- The
Martin Methodist RedHawks' 75-54 thrashed the Lyon
College Scots Saturday in the TranSouth Conference
openers for both teams at Becknell Gym.
Martin Methodist, ranked No. 18 in the NAIA's latest
Division I poll, improves to 10-1 overall and has won
its last six ballgames. Lyon falls to 6-5 and has
dropped four of its last five contests against MMC.
Kendaris Pelton led the way for the RedHawks, scoring a
game-high 24 points on 9 of 9 shooting from the field
and 4 of 6 from the free-throw line. Marvin Listenbee
added 12 of MMC's 33 points off the bench.
Scots forward Charles Black scored 12 points and Alex
Kelly added 11. Lyon guard Jonathan Donaldson scored
seven points. The total gave Donaldson 1,445 for his
career and moved the Beebe native ahead of former Scot
David Brogdon (1989-93) for 11th place on the school's
all-time scoring list.
