BATESVILLE, Ark.
-- Levi Taylor became the 30th member of Lyon College's
1,000-point Club Thursday night, but the Scots were
thumped by Cumberland, 63-44, in a TranSouth Conference
game at Becknell Gym.
Taylor scored a game-high 19 points Thursday, giving the
senior forward 1,002 points and settling him at No. 30
on the Lyon College scoring list. The Melbourne standout
shot 8 of 10 from the charity stripe, had six rebounds
and three steals to go with his game-high scoring total.
No other Lyon College player scratched a scoring total
in double figures.
The Scots (7-6 overall, 1-2 in the TranSouth) attempted
a season-high 22 3-point field goals, but scored on only
six for 27.3 percent. Lyon also struggled from the
free-throw line, hitting just 14 of 25 attempts (56
percent).
Thomas Douglas sparked the Bulldogs (9-3, 3-0) with 17
points on 8 of 10 shooting from field-goal range.
DeCorey Young helped out with 11 points and Rontreal
Braxton had 10 points.
Lyon was outrebounded by CU, 40-23. Cumberland's rebound
total was the most by a Scots' foe this season.
