MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A last-second shot rained on a great
field-goal shooting parade for the Lyon College Scots in
an 83-81 loss to the Crichton College Comets Saturday
evening in TranSouth Conference action.
The
Scots (8-8 overall, 2-4 in the TranSouth) shot a
season-best 64 percent from the field on 29 of 45
shooting, but gave up a five-point lead with less than a
minute remaining against a tough and determined Crichton
squad.
Crichton's
Derek Boykin scored the game-winner with :02 to go in
the game.
Guard
Jonathan Donaldson paced Lyon with 20 points, seven
rebounds and shot 7 of 12 from field-goal range. Levi
Taylor added 16 points on 6 of 7 shooting and teammates
Preston Butts and Charles Black pitched in 11 apiece.
James Jackson of Jacksonville, Ark., dropped in a Lyon
College career high of seven points.
Crichton's Stanley Brownlee led all scoeres with 24
poitns and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds. Jonathan
Bohanna and Michael Sapp had 12 points apiece.
The
Comets improve to 10-7 and 5-3 in league play.
