BATESVILLE, Ark. – Levi Taylor scored 20-plus points for the
fourth time in five games to lead the Lyon College Scots
to a 76-72 victory over the Williams Baptist College
Eagles Thursday evening in a nonconference game at
Becknell Gym.
Taylor shot 7 of 15 from the field and 7 of 9 from the
charity stripe to notch a team-high 22 points. The
senior forward also had seven rebounds and three blocks.
Jonathan Donaldson added 18 points and a team-high 10
boards for the Scots, who win their second straight and
improve to 4-3 this year.
Donaldson's 18-point total moves the senior guard into
12th place on the Scots all-time scoring list with 1,387
points. The Scots' guard moves ahead of Gary Weeks, who
scored 1,370 points in his career from 1968-71.
Lyon junior Preston
Butts pitched in 10 points and seven rebounds.
Lyon shot just 38 percent from field-goal range, but
scored 21 points off of 17 Williams Baptist turnovers.
The Scots got an additional 22 points from its bench,
including 11 points and six steals from sophomore Alex
Kelly.
Williams Baptist (6-3), who got a game-high 27 points
from Jermaine Templeton, lost for just the third time
this season -- two of those losses coming at the hands
of the Scots.
