WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. --
The Lyon College Scots shot 52 percent from the floor
and 43 percent from 3-point range in a 66-59 victory
over the Williams Baptist College Eagles Tuesday evening
in a nonconference road contest.
The Scots (2-1) road win
avenged last season's 83-72 loss to the Eagles at Walnut
Ridge, in which WBC hit 12 3-pointers and 17 of 23 free
throws to earn the victory.
This time, the Eagles
were nearly as fortunate from 3-point range, but Lyon
left nothing to chance, hitting 26 of 50 from the floor
and 6 of 14 from the arc. WBC, meanwhile, made 11 of 29
(38 percent) on 3's, but shot a woeful 20 of 56 from the
floor.
Senior forward Levi
Taylor led the Scots in scoring with 20 points, and
earned seven rebounds. Junior Preston Butts notched his
first double-double of the season, picking up 11 points
and 10 boards. Point guard Trey Salley scored 10 points,
Matt Owens had nine and Jonathan Donaldson accounted for
eight.
Coach Kevin Jenkins'
Scots crashed the boards and held a 39-26 rebounding
advantage over the Eagles.
The Scots led 32-29 at
the half and outscored WBC 34-30 after the break.
