BATESVILLE, Ark. --
Andrius Mikutis scored on a layup at the buzzer to give
the John Brown University Golden Eagles a 77-76 win over
the Lyon College Scots Thursday evening in nonconference
play.
Lyon's Jonathan Donaldson
sank two free throws with :08.2 remaining to send the
Scots to a 76-75 advantage, but Joel Tesis found Mikutis
under the bucket for the game winner.
John Brown improves to a
perfect 5-0 this season. Lyon sinks to 2-2.
Donaldson led all scorers
with 25 points on 9 of 15 shooting from the floor and 5
of 6 from the free-throw line. Teammate Levi Taylor
added 14 on 6 of 15 from the field and 9 of 11 from the
charity stripe.
Tesis paced the Golden
Eagles with 24 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Mikutis earned 16 points and Cody Page pitched in 12.
Lyon shot 56 percent (14
of 25) from the field in the first half -- including 50
percent from the 3-point line -- and led 40-37 at
halftime. John Brown peppered the net in the second half
at a 63-percent clip, scoring on 15 of 24 chances to
make up the difference by the final horn.
The Scots shot 48 percent
(23 of 48) for the balance of the game and John Brown
shot 56 percent (28 of 50).
