SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. --
The Lyon College Scots hit just 37 percent from the
floor and 23 percent from the 3-point line in a 65-52
loss to the John Brown Golden Eagles Monday in the
Scots' season opener.
Jonathan Donaldson was
the Scots' lone bright spot from the floor, hitting 6 of
12 shots from field goal range. The senior from Beebe
also hit 6 of 7 free throws for a grand total of a
team-high 18 points.
Donaldson's point total
gives him 1291 for his career, moving him ahead of Steve
Sherry and Lee Andrew Smith for 16th place on the
all-time scoring list.
Levi Taylor was the only
other Lyon College player to score in double-figures
with 11 points. Point guard Trey Salley scored seven and
had a team-high five rebounds for Lyon.
John Brown's Joel Tesis
led all scorers with 21 points and helped move the
Golden Eagles to 2-0 this season.
The Scots trailed 48-42
with about eight minutes left to go in the game, but the
Golden Eagles went on a 17-10 run to close the contest
on top.
