Chauncey Shelton hit for
a game-high 21 points, Jacob McKissack poured in 20 and three
other Martin Methodist RedHawks scored in double digits
en route to a 79-67 win over the Lyon College Scots
Thursday evening in YranSouth Conference action at
Becknell Gymnasium.
Chris Murdock (12), Eric
Howard (10) and Kirk Newnham (10) also had double-figure
scoring nights for the RedHawks.
Levi Taylor led the Scots
with 20 points and teammate Jonathan Donaldson tacked on
16 in support. Chad Glover earned eight, Preston Butts
seven and Matt Owens added six.
Lyon trailed by only a
point, 41-40, at the half, but stumbled down the stretch
to end up down by 12 at the final buzzer.
The Scots conference loss
was their sixth straight, falling to 9-9 overall and 0-6
in the TranSouth. Martin Methodist improves to 10-8 and
4-2.
