The Lyon College Scots
out-rebounded, out-shot and out-hustled the Cumberland
Bulldogs en route to a 70-62 win Thursday evening in
TranSouth Conference action at Becknell Gymnasium.
The Scots held advantages
in rebounding (42-31), field-goal shooting (46 percent
to 38 percent) and free-throw shooting (76 percent to
53.6 percent) to defend their home-court.
Levi Taylor led all Scots
with 16 points. Preston Butts followed with 14 points
and eight rebounds. Brandon Thomas added 14 points and
Trey Salley threw in 11 with six boards and four
assists.
Torrez Hampton spurred
the Bulldogs with 18 points and nine rebounds. Chase
Burnett was the only other Cumberland player in double
digits with 13 points.
The win broke a
three-game slide for the Scots (12-17overall, 3-14 in
the TranSouth). Cumberland falls to 15-13 and 7-10.
