BATESVILLE, Ark. -- The
Lyon College Scots won their fourth game in a row
Thursday evening in grand fashion, obliterating the
Williams Baptist College Eagles 87-53 in a nonconference
game at Becknell Gymnasium.
Lyon moves to 7-3 this
season and gains a measure of revenge for an 83-72 road
loss to the Eagles on Nov. 14. In the Nov. 14 contest,
WBC scored on 12 of 29 attempts from the 3-point line.
Thursday, the Scots absolutely smothered the Eagles
defensively, holding WBC to just 32 percent shooting (17
of 54) and an anemic 18 percent (5 of 28) from the arc.
Meanwhile, the Scots
scored on 35 of 64 shot attempts for a 55 percent clip
and canned 13 of 18 free-throw chances for a season-high
72 percent from the line.
Scots forward Levi Taylor
earned game-high scoring honors with 20 points on 6 of
11 shooting from the field. The junior from Melbourne,
Ark., also had a team-high eight rebounds, two steals
and two blocks. Lyon guard Jonathan Donaldson had 13
points while teammates Charles Black and Matt Owens
accounted for 12 and nine points, respectively, off the
bench.
Larry Boyd led all
scorers for WBC with 10 points..
