LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –
Jonathan Donaldson exploded for 27 points, nine rebounds
and six steals to power the Lyon College Scots to a
72-70 overtime triumph over the the Philander Smith
Panthers in nonconference play Saturday evening.
Donaldson, a junior guard
from Beebe, Ark., shot 9 of 15 from the field, 2 of 5
from 3-point range and 7 of 8 from the charity stripe to
notch his game-high total. The 27 points was easily a
season-high from the All-TranSouth Conference guard.
Scots’ teammates Levi
Taylor pitched in 15 points and Preston Butts tacked on
10 to give the squad a formidable frontline compliment
to Donaldson. Butts also made a significant defensive
contribution with six steals – a career high.
Philander received a
team-high 20 points from Darren Jamison and 14 from
Johnny Lewis.
Lyon wins its second
consecutive game and improves to 5-3 this season.
