WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. --
The Williams Baptist Eagles scored a run in the bottom
of the 11th inning to edge the Lyon College Scots 4-3
Tuesday in nonconference play.
The Scots (19-10) out-hit
WBC 11-7 in the game, but left 12 runners on base in the
contest.
Lyon middle infielders
Justin Brown and Josiah Hass each had three hits apiece.
Zac
Wallace had two hits and two RBIs. Wallace's hit total
extends his hitting streak to nine games. The nine-game
streak ties Brown for a season-high on the Scots. Brown
opened the season hitting safely in nine games from Feb.
2 to Feb. 23.
Nick D'Amico also had
two hits for Lyon.
Nick Salahub (2-2)
suffered his second consecutive loss in relief. The Lyon
closer pitched 2 1/3 innings, struck out four and
allowed two hits, without walking a batter.
Scots' starter Chad Brock
threw five innings of four-hit ball. Brock whiffed
eight, walked one and allowed one earned run. Matt
Creamer allowed a run and a hit in an inning following
Brock's exit. Matt Bell and Craig Page each pitched a
scoreless, hitless inning of relief sandwiched in
between Creamer and Salahub.
