CLARKSVILLE, Ark. -- The Lyon College Scots and the
University of the Ozarks Eagles slugged it out in an
11-7 loss for the Scots Tuesday in nonconference play.
Lyon (15-6) spotted U of O an 11-3 lead through six
innings of play. The Scots managed a four-run rally in
the top of the ninth and closed the gap but fell short
of extra innings when Eagles' reliever Kyle Hudson
closed the door.
The Eagles (16-2), ranked No. 24 in NCAA Division III,
and Lyon combined for 29 hits in the contest. U of O
outhit Lyon 16-13.
Zac Wallace and Garry Richards starred for Lyon on
offense. Wallace rapped out four hits, stole two bases
and scored three runs. Richards had two hits --
including a double -- and drove in three runs.
Chad Brock (1-2) was hung with the loss for Lyon,
pitching 4 1/3 innings with five strikeouts. He allowed
seven hits and five earned runs.
