BATESVILLE, Ark. --
Lyon College Scots allowed a season-high 17 runs and 16
hits in a 17-3 loss to the Union University Bulldogs
Friday in a TranSouth Conference game at Scots Field.
Lyon (23-17overall, 7-10
in the TranSouth) suffered its fourth straight TranSouth
Conference loss and its sixth in its last nine games.
Union (20-12-1, 9-6-1)
tied one season-high mark and set two others. The
Bulldogs tied a season high for hits and set a new
season-high total for runs and extra base hits (8).
Shaun Cozart, Andrew
Hansen and Judson Powers had three hits apiece for the
Bulldogs. Powers doubled, homered and drove in four
runs. James Brasfield added two hits and drove in four
runs, including a three-run double.
Lyon managed six hits
including three from center fielder Nick D'Amico.
Justin McGarity (6-4)
suffered his third straight loss on the hill for the
Scots. The senior made it through just 2 2/3 innings,
allowing four hits, four runs (three earned) and struck
out two.
Greg Abram (4-2) earned
the victory for Union and pitched eight innings of
six-hit ball. He struck out four, walked none and
allowed two earned runs.
