PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Lyon College's Scots suffered their
first loss inside Florida borders since 2005 on Tuesday
night in a 14-1 loss to the West Florida Argonauts in
game-two of a late-night doubleheader.
The Scots (17-8) allowed 15 hits and committed five
errors in the rout and lost to the Argos (13-17) for the
first time in the two teams' last four meetings. West
Florida's last win in the series was on Mar. 5, 2005,
when the Argos picked up a 5-4 home victory.
Starter Craig Page (1-2) took the loss for Lyon and
allowed six hits and six runs – four were earned – in
two innings pitched. Page gave way to Matt Creamer who
allowed six runs – only two were earned – in 1 1/3
innings of work. Matt Bell, Garry Richards and Will
Bullock combined to mop up the final 2 1/3 innings.
Shane Green (3-2) earned the win for West Florida and
threw 3 2/3 innings of the run-rule shortened game. He
allowed five hits, one run, walked four and struck out
six.
Justin Brown and Zac Wallace each had two base hits in
Lyon's five-hit output. Justin Cunningham drove in the
Scots' only run.
Gregg Burkel and Greg Pron had three hits apiece for
West Florida. Pron also drove in three runs and doubled.
