PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Lyon College Scots' pitchers Chad
Brock and Nick Salahub combined on a five-hit shutout of
the West Florida Argonauts Tuesday in a the first game
of a nonconference doubleheader.
Brock (2-2) picked up the win, while Salahub notched his
third save of the season.
Second baseman Justin Brown drove in the game-winning
run for Lyon with a two-out double in the top of the
fifth inning. Brown currently leads the TranSouth
Conference in batting average (.507) and is fourth in
the league with 26 RBIs.
Lyon (17-7) wins its second consecutive game on this
gulf-coast swing and has not been scored upon in its
last 15 innings. The Scots have won their last three
meetings with the NCAA Division II Argos and haven't
lost inside Florida borders since Mar. 5, 2005.
Because of the threat of rain on Wednesday, the Scots
agreed to close out the gulf road trip with another game
with West Florida (12-17) tonight.
