inning helped the Freed-Hardeman Lions notch a 7-4
victory over the Lyon College Scots Tuesday in the
second round of the double-elimination TranSouth
Conference Tournament at USA Stadium.
Lyon
(28-19) drops into the loser's bracket to meet No.
5-seed Martin Methodist Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
Freed-Hardeman faces off against No. 4 Cumberland at 7
p.m.
Brian
Carr (5-2) took the loss despite eight solid innings of
seven-hit ball. Carr walked one and struck out five,
while allowing three earned runs.
Javier
Gomez (10-1) picked up the win, tossing a complete-game
eight-hitter. Gomez whiffed 10 and walked only one.
The Scots
earned eight hits as a team, led by two each from
catcher Drew Kellums and shortstop Josiah Hass.
