The Lambuth Eagles belted two homers and scored three
runs over the sixth and seventh innings to hold off the
Lyon College Scots Friday in a 6-4 TranSouth Conference
contest.
Lyon (15-7 overall, 2-3 in the TranSouth) loses its
third straight and its fourth in five games. Lambuth
improves to 15-10 and 4-2.
Lambuth starter Kory Bates scattered eight hits in 7 1/3
innings and struck out four for the win. Closer Tony
Bates pitched the ninth for the save.
Scots starting pitcher Derek Bond
(2-2) took the loss and allowed 10 hits in seven innings
of work. Bond whiffed three and walked none.
Second baseman Justin Brown, left fielder Zac Wallace
and right fielder Sam Neal each had two hits to lead the
Scots. Brown hit a solo homer and drove in a run, while
Neal and center fielder Nick D'Amico notched an RBI
each.
