SEARCY, Ark. --
The Lyon College Scots singled their way to victory over
the Harding Bisons in a three-hour, rain-delayed 13-4
rout at Jerry Moore Field.
Lyon (23-13) knocked
around the Bisons' pitching for 18 hits, including 16
singles. The double-digit hit tally marked the 22nd time
in 36 games the Scots have accounted for 10 or more
hits.
Lyon third baseman Andy
Schatzley had the only extra-base hit, doubling home two
runs in the Scots' four-run third frame.
The hit total was the
highest the Bisons (19-17) have allowed all season.
Tuesday's game was
originally scheduled for a doubleheader, but the second
game was canceled due to bad weather.
The win gave Lyon Head
Coach Kirk Kelley his 490th career victory. Kelley's
team currently has 12 games left in the regular season
to help their coach reach the 500th victory milestone
this year.
Lyon pitchers Chad Brock
and Craig Page teamed up for a four-hit game. Brock
(3-2) struck out three and allowed three hits in four
innings of work and earned the victory.
Schatzley, Nick D'Amico, and Josiah Hass led Lyon with
three hits each. Schatzley and Zac Wallace collected
three RBI each.
