BATESVILLE, Ark. -- A big twinbill by second baseman
Justin Brown and big innings at the right times in
general, helped the Lyon College Scots notch a 12-8 and
8-6 sweep of Fisher College Friday in a nonconference
doubleheader at Scots Field.
Lyon
(8-1) got a seven-run third inning in game one and a
clutch three-run sixth in game two to collect the
twinbill victory.
Second baseman Justin Brown powered the Scots throughout
the doubleheader, finishing 6-for-8 with a homer,
a double, a triple and eight RBIs.
Game One
Brown went 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs to lead
Lyon's 10-hit attack in game one.
Scots'
designated hitter Nick Salahub added a solo shot and
leadoff hitter Nick D'Amico scored three times.
Reliever Matt Creamer (1-0) notched the win for Lyon,
pitching 3 2/3 innings of two-hit relief in place of
starter Chad Brock. The Scots' pitcher allowed three
earned runs, walked two and struck out two.
Game Two
Brown spearheaded a come-from-behind victory in the
nightcap, when his two-out, two-run RBI triple in the
bottom of the sixth inning gave the Scots the lead for
good.
Brown
went 3-for-4 in game two, drove in three runs and
finished a homer shy of the cycle. Scots left fielder
Kody Cox had two RBIs and Nick D'Amico tripled during a
2-for-3 day at the dish.
Salahub (2-0) picked up the win in relief of Craig Page.
Salahub threw 1 1/3 innings of one-hit relief and struck
out one.
