RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. -- The Lyon College Scots managed to
collect 18 hits and 15 runs in a 15-9 victory over NCAA
Division II Arkansas Tech Sunday in nonconference play
at Tech Field.
Lyon
(4-0) got three hits and five RBIs from designated
hitter Nick Salahub. Center fielder Nick D'Amico added
three doubles and one RBI. Senior first baseman Drew
Kellums had three hits and two RBIs.
Scot
ace Justin McGarity (2-0) pitched five solid innings of
seven hit ball. The senior righty allowed four runs,
three earned and struck out four in his second start of
the season.
Coach
Kirk Kelley's Scots leaped to a 10-3 lead over the first
six innings of play as Tech hitters struggled to solve
McGarity.
The
Wonder Boys climbed back into the game late with a
five-run seventh that closed the gap to 12-9, but the
Scots closed the door with three in the top of the
ninth.
