SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The
Lyon College Pipers' tennis team collected six victories
in doubles and individual play, but fell to Stephens
College and Evangel College in successive matches
Tuesday in nonconference play.
Andrea Higginbottom and
Eri Kasai won each of their singles matches and teamed
up to win a doubles match against Stephens. Higginbottom
won her singles match 6-0, 6-1, and Kasai took her match
6-1, 6-0. The doubles match was an 8-3 victory for
Higginbottom and Kasai.
In other singles play vs.
Stephens: Jennifer Wagoner lost 0-6, 2-6; Ran Tsurumaki
lost 1-6, 0-6 and Alison Sablick took a 1-6, 4-6 defeat.
Wagoner and Tsurumaki
lost the other doubles match 1-8.
Higginbottom and Kasai
combined for an 8-8 (7-5) win in a tiebreaker against
Evangel while each won their singles matches. Kasai took
her singles matchup in a tie-break, 6-3, 6-7 (8-6) and
Higginbottom earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
In other singles play vs.
Evangel: Wagoner lost 1-6, 2-6; Tsurumaki dropped her
match 0-6, 0-6 and Sablick suffered a 0-6, 0-6 loss.
Wagoner and Tsurumaki
were beaten in the final doubles match of the day 3-8.
