JACKSON, Tenn. --
The Lyon College Scots and Pipers lost
their respective season openers in matches against the
Lambuth University Eagles on Tuesday at Jackson, Tenn.
The Scots lost their match against the
Eagles, 6-3, but had victories from Adam Robertson, who
won both singles match and his doubles match with
teammate Matt Petty.
Robertson won his singles match 6-3, 6-1
and Petty and Robertson took their doubles contest 8-6.
Daniel Angel also picked up a win for the Scots in
singles play, winning 6-4, 6-1.
The Pipers suffered a 6-3 defeat at the
hands of the Lady Eagles.
Andrea Higginbottom led the way for the
Pipers with a 7-5, 6-4 singles win and an 8-0 doubles
victory with Eri Kasai. Kasai also captured her singles
contest, taking a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
The Scots and Pipers are scheduled to
visit Henderson Tenn. Both take on Freed-Hardeman and
Martin Methodist on Friday and Saturday February 23 and
24.
The first home match for the Pipers is
set for March 5, with the University of South Dakota, at
the Lyon College Tennis Complex.
