JACKSON, Tenn. -- The
Lyon College Pipers gave up three runs in a fateful
fifth inning and left a total eight runners on base
during a 3-1 loss to the Cumberland Lady Bulldogs
Thursday in the loser's bracket of the TranSouth
Conference Tournament.
Lyon is eliminated from
post-season play and ends its inaugural season at 15-36.
Cumberland improves to 15-23 and advanced to the second
round of loser's bracket play.
Abbey Canon and Angelique
Armenta had two hits apiece for the Pipers, who had
seven hits as a team.
Pipers' hurler Tenequa
Martin (7-22) pitched seven complete innings of
seven-hit ball, striking out three and walking one.
Katie Goad (6-5) earned
the complete-game victory for Cumberland, going seven
innings with four strikeouts and no walks.
