ARKADELPHIA, Ark. --
Lyon College lifted the curtain on its first-year
softball program on Sunday with a 4-0, 2-1 doubleheader
loss to Ouachita Baptist.
The Pipers settle at 0-2 this season. OBU evens its
record to 3-3.
Game One
The Pipers lost 4-0 in game one, but got their first hit
in program history when first baseman Taylor Morgan
doubled to left-center field in the top half of the
first inning.
Lyon collected two more hits in game one -- one by
center fielder Phenix Butler and another by left fielder
Mikka Jaggers.
OBU scored twice in the second inning and once in each
of the fifth and sixth.
Tenqua
Martin (0-1) suffered the game-one loss for the Pipers.
Martin threw a six-hit complete game with four
strikeouts and two walks. All four OBU runs were earned.
Game Two
Lyon scored its first run in program history during a
2-1 defeat in game two, when shortstop Abbey Canon
crossed the plate in the top half of the seventh inning.
Natalie
Fuqua had the Pipers' first-ever RBI when her sacrifice
fly provided the means for Canon to score.
Morgan
notched two more hits in game two, including her second
double of the year. The North Little Rock, Ark. native
also drew the start on the mound and tossed six complete
innings of five-hit ball. She struck out one, walked one
and allowed two earned runs in the loss.
