JACKSON, Tenn. – Lyon
College Pipers’ pitcher/first baseman Taylor Morgan was
named the 2008 TranSouth Conference Freshman of the
Year, according to a release from the league office.
Morgan, a 5-10 lefty from
North Little Rock, Ark., was also honored with a
first-team All-TranSouth Conference selection in the
release. She carried a team-leading .387 average and led
the team in home runs (4), RBIs (29), slugging
percentage (.556) and on-base percentage (.470). In the
circle, she was 7-8 with 11 complete games, a 4.96 ERA
and 41 strikeouts.
She was the only Lyon
College player to be named to the all-conference team in
the program's first year of existence.
