Pipers drop
doubleheader
to No. 24 Martin Methodist

No. 24 Martin Methodist buzzed through the Lyon College
Pipers, 9-1 and 6-1, Sunday in a TranSouth Conference
twinbill matchup.
Lyon (6-12
overall and 5-7 in TranSouth play) collected eight hits
in game one, but left eight on base in the five-inning,
run-rule shortened game. In game two, the Pipers were
two-hit by Martin Methodist pitcher Sally Gale. Gale
whiffed seven and walked three to earn the win.
Shortstop
Abbey Canon and Kiley Parker had two hits each to lead
the Pipers in game one. Parker drove in Lyon's only run.
Brooke
Kelley went 2-for-2, hit two homers and drove in five
runs for Martin Methodist.
Tenequa
Martin (3-8) took the game one loss for Lyon and allowed
eight hits with three strikeouts in five innings of
work.
Holly Geis
(1-4) suffered the game two defeat for the Pipers. She
struck out two, walked one and allowed 11 hits in seven
innings.
